The NORA 92 British Cup concluded on the weekend (3rd & 4th August) at Marshfield and boy wasn’t it an electrifying weekend as Champions were crowned. One Champion crowned was NORA CRS Development rider Jack Evans as the 2024 NORA 92 British Cup Youth Champion.
Here how the weekend went for Jack especially when he took away the Youth Championship win, two years after winning the Big Wheel 85cc title.
“Super weekend at Marshfield for the final round of the NORA British Cup And great to be representing NORA CRS Development with all my team mates. The hot and windy conditions made the track extremely dry with no ruts, so combined in the Youth 125 and 250 series, it was going to be tough going, especially up the long Marshfield hills!”
Here is a rundown of each session from the weekend:
Saturday Qualifying – 4th overall, 0.01 second off 3rd
Race 1 – Alright start. Couldn’t pass, but rode sensibly and finished in 4th
Race 2 – Track was even drier and dustier at this stage. Couldn’t pass again and finished in 5th
Race 3 – Best race of the weekend. Worked hard at the start of the race to get into 3rd. From here, managed to gap away from the rest of the riders. Rode smoothly and rode round to finish in 3rd place.
Race 4 – Rode round to get the points I needed and finished in 6th. Finished 4th overall on the weekend.
“I was crowned the NORA Cup Youth Champion for 2024, two years after winning the BW85 NORA Cup. Going into the weekend, I was lying in 2nd place for the overall Championship, but it wasn’t a done deal, as other riders were chasing me down for the points. However, in the absence of the other rider, I won the Championship through perseverance and consistency. I was pleased with my starts and consistent lap times, and using my head to not override in the tough conditions. I would like to say thank you to Gemma, Andy and Roy, all the team sponsors, and my personal sponsors for supporting me this year.”
