Big Wheel 85cc rider Jesse James also headed to Oxford Moto Parc last weekend for the opening round of the NPC – Pro MX Championship Fuelled by Gulf Race Fuels. With this being the first time for Jesse competing with some of the countries top riders and at a GP standard track, it was just about gaining some experience and as always enjoy riding.

Read how the weekend went for Jesse, below.
Jesse lined up with some of the fastest 85 Big Wheel Races in Britain this weekend. We all went into racing with no expectations as this was the first time he has competed at this level and it really was just the experience of racing a Pro Track for the first time.

Free Practice and Qualifying 85s were the first class out so the track was quite wet and slick. Rode the practice figuring out what the best lines were going to be and went into qualifying still not completely settled into track so qualified in 23rd.
Race 1 – Had a really good start but couldn’t get the rhythm . Took a tumble on the second lap struggled to get from under bike then couldn’t start the bike so fell two laps behind and just couldn’t recover. 27th in the combined results and 20th in the Supermini Big Wheel 85cc results.
Race 2 – Another great start, got swallowed up on the first corner, went down again. I think the nerves really just took over. I really struggled to gel with the bike and track. 22nd in the combined results and 17th in the Supermini Big Wheel 85cc results.
Race 3 – As the day went on I started feeling unwell but I got a good start and put in some really good lap times in compared to Saturday. Ended up with his best finish so far. 19th in the combined results and 15th in the Supermini Big Wheel 85cc results.
Race 4 – Sunday, woke up feeling feeling quite rough but wanted to go and ride . It was a real struggle to finish the race as these races were a bit longer than I’m used to. 23rd in the combined results and 19th in the Supermini Big Wheel 85cc results.
Race 5 – Last race of the weekend was probably the most difficult for me. Really couldn’t focus on the task at hand. Rode the race as best I could but really did struggle. 24th in the combined results and 19th in the Supermini Big Wheel 85cc results.
In closing I really enjoyed my first pro race but I have a lot to learn moving into the Big Wheel Class at this level. I will get a few more club races under my belt build some confidence and go again next time.
Finished the weekend 18th overall for the first round of the Championship.
