10th overall at Brookthorpe for Jesse James

Another weekend of good results for Jesse James competing at Brookthorpe with Severn Valley Schoolboy Motocross Club on September 7th and 8th. After two solid days of racing for our NORA CRS Development rider, Jesse ended the weekend with a 10th overall in the Small Wheel 85cc class.

Here is how the weekend went for Jesse:

Another unknown track for Jesse. With heavy rain the night before the track was amazingly hard. The start gates were packed as this was a Championship round so there were some quick kids. Jesse took to race 1 after practice with confidence as he was quite excited to race this track and came back with a very respectable 12th.

Out for race 2 and Jesse was feeling good . He got a really good start and was inside the top 10 until one of the clutch casing bolts came out which caused the clutch to lose oil and seize during lap 2. He limped the bike home finishing in 13th. After that race we had to make a quick visit to the parts van for a new clutch and with the help from one of our NORA CRS teammates the bike was up and running again.

Last race of the day he started well but think he had lost his confidence so really just played it safe for that race but he’d lost his aggression came home in 15th.

Sunday – With a fresh head and a good nights sleep Jesse was very positive for Race 4. It had been raining since 1am so we knew the conditions were going to be tricky. The track was deep muddy and slick on the corners. Jesse got out with the front pack and stayed there to have his best finish of the weekend in 6th.

As the weather was going to get really bad the organisers decided to only run 2 races on the Sunday. By the second race on Sunday the track was a mess with some bad lips on the jumps and the ruts had started curling. He got off to a brilliant start up in 4th then up in the woods section where is was really wet took a fall . He got back on and struggling to get his rhythm not realising his front tyre was flat from the crash, he went round a corner cross rutted which sent him over the bars breaking his front brake master cylinder in half, bending his bars. Like a champ he got back on and kept going to the end of the race.

Overall he really liked Brookthorpe, finishing 10th (2nd in wildcard riders) was a really good result.

Special thanks to NORA CRS and all the other sponsors supporting him for the 2024 season. We go again this weekend with Cotswolds MXC at Rushwick.
