11th Overall for Jack Evans at the Acerbis Amateur Nationals!

Acerbis Amateur Nationals 29-30 June 2024

Last weekend, we headed over to Marshfield for the Acerbis Amateur Nationals. This series is again a mixture of Adults and Youth in the 125cc class, so it was a full line up of experienced competition all weekend.

In a nutshell, on Saturday, I had great starts, but Sunday was not so great. My lap times were pretty consistent, and I had the pace and the fitness to keep up with the top riders.

Saturday:
Race 1 –
good start, consistent lap times, finished P10.
This was great as it set me up for a good gate pick for the rest of the weekend.

Race 2 – best start of the weekend. Came round the first corner in P6 but made my way into P3 on the 2nd corner when the other riders went wide.
Unfortunately, I made a couple of mistakes which meant I lost a few spaces. Came back to finish P10.

Sunday
Race 3 –
span out of the gate, but felt really good as I came back through the pack. Made a mistake trying to make a pass and lost about 8 seconds, so instead of making a pass I lost a place. Finished P11, but I had the 5th fastest lap of the race, which I was pleased about.

Race 4 – for some reason I chose completely the wrong gate from where I’d been starting all weekend. I was too close to the box, which meant on the tight corner at the top of the start straight, I got boxed in and came round in last place.
Really had to fight through the pack but managed to finish in P12.

Was hoping to get top 10 but walked away with P11 overall.

Learning
When I can get the start, I need to believe I can run with the front riders.

Now onto next weekend.. Fastest 40 on Saturday at Brookthorpe, AMCA champs at Hawkestone Park on Sunday.

Thanks to the NORA Team, Team Sponsors, Racepix for the great photos, and all my personal sponsors for their continued support.
