12th overall at RL Raceway for Angelica Bennett

Last weekend Southerly MXC held Round 9 and the rescheduled Round 1 of their Club Championship at RL Raceway. NORA CRS rider Angelica Bennett made the trip to the track with the goal to add more points to her Championship standings in the Small Wheel 85cc Class and the Girls Small Wheel 85cc Class.

Here is how the weekend went for Angelica with a dry day Saturday and wet conditions on Sunday.

This weekend I competed for round 9 and the rescheduled round 1 of the Southerly Championship at the brand new RL raceway in North Devon. The track was incredible, it’s so nice to have a brand new track, it was old school natural track with lots of off camber corners and on Saturday their were lots of dust burms.

Race 1 – P13 mixed results and P1 girls. It took me a little while to shake the rust off after 6 weeks off riding and getting used to the track. It was really hard to pass, starts were very important and I didn’t get one.

Race 2 – P14 mixed results and P1 girls. This was such a good race, I was battling for 10th and trusted a burm a bit too much, fell down and tumbled down the hill. Took me a while to get back going but I got back up to 14th by the end of the race.

Race 3 – P11 mixed results and P1 girls. I felt so confident for this race. I went in gunning for the top 10 and I was so close but couldn’t quite get there. Those Southerly boys are fast but I’m getting there, I will get in that top 10 by the end of the year.

Race 4 – P13 mixed results and P1 girls. Wow what a difference from yesterday, the track was so wet, the track was cut so slippery on the grass and I just couldn’t keep myself stuck to the bike. I crashed so many times but kept going to the end and kept the P1 in the girls.

Race 5 – P11 mixed results and P1 girls. I found my flow again for this one, the track had dried so was much better for this race, I was inside the top 10 for a while but I stalled it and dropped my places. Still really happy with the result and again so close to that top 10 result.

Overall – P12 mixed results and P1 girls. I’m coming away a bit disappointed, I wanted to come away higher but still happy with the weekend overall and protected the P1 in the Southerly MX Girls SW85cc Championship. Can’t wait for the final round in a few weeks time.
