30th in Youth 250cc Class at the 2026 Weston Beach Race for Ollie Bardoe

Last weekend was the Weston Beach Race, probably my favourite event of the year. This year was my first year racing in the 125/250 group.

Getting to Weston on the Thursday I went to have a look at the track and it looked really good.

Saturday morning I was excited and a bit nervous. When they opened the gates to the bikes, I ran to my bike and managed to get right behind the quad that takes you to the start gates. I was first to the gates. When they opened the gates I had a brilliant start, was in the top 5 going up the straight and 4th around the top corner.

After a great few fast laps I was in 10th overall when my clutch went going up a dune. I was gutted. One of my dad’s friends was there to help me get my bike off the track and pushed it back to the pits. After thinking that was my Weston race done my dad and his friends managed to put another clutch in and I was off again.

I had lost at least 1/2 an hour of the race, about 8 laps but I didn’t think about what place I would come, I just wanted to finish the race. I put in some solid lap times, had a lot of fun, really enjoyed it especially going up the straight. I finished 30th in the 250 class and 83rd overall from about 120 riders.

I want to thank my dad and all his friends who helped me get back out on the beach and finish the race. Looking forward to next year!
