This weekend I headed to Wolverley track for Round 2 of the Wilden MXC Championship. I arrived early on Sunday morning to walk the main part of the track and get a feel for the conditions.
Race 1: Gate picks were first come, first served, and although I had first choice, I somehow ended up picking a rubbish gate! As I came out of the gate, I lost traction where there was no grip, dropping me back to 9th going into the first corner. I put my head down, worked my way through the ruts and pushed hard to catch the leaders. Unfortunately, I crashed out, which dropped me back to 4th, and that’s where I finished.

Race 2: I got a decent start and was running in 4th. Unfortunately, I crashed going around the second corner. I got back up, pushed hard to make up places and managed to finish 4th.
Race 3: I got a good start and was running in the top 5, but unfortunately, I got taken out and dropped back near the back of the pack. I put my head down, kept pushing and fought my way through to finish an awesome 2nd place! This gave me 4th overall for the day. Although the results didn’t really show how well I felt I was riding or how hard I was pushing, that’s motocross! Sometimes it goes your way, and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ll take the positives, learn from the mistakes and come back stronger next time.
