This weekend was the last round of the NORA92 British Cup at Gossington Moto Parc. I knew the points were close so I had to do all I can to get that podium finish that I wanted.
The rain came!! I woke up on the Saturday and it was pouring down… but the show must go on! The rain had stopped by the time I got out for qualifying and I started up front, I knew I needed a good gate pick this weekend so I gave it my all and finished P2 giving myself a good start for the weekend.
Race 1 – Out the gate but wasn’t my best start, running around 5th I knew I had to make them passes as quick as I could. With the front few so close I had them in site the whole race, I made a pass and then another rider going down, I was pleased to cross the line in 3rd. Chuffed with that result!
Race 2 – It was late in the day and the sun was low making it tricky for goggle selection.… tinted lenses or play it safe with roll offs. The rain had still been on and off all day I played it safe. A good start sitting in 3rd and having the front riders in sight again. Finding my flow and knowing I had pressure on me I got my head down. A few mistakes from the pressure and from the low sun making it hard to see. I lost a couple of positions, crossing the line P7.
Day 2 and the sun was out but knew that there was still some rain to come, so was aware the track could change at any moment. After some great encouragement and advice from Joe I went out for my sighting lap, having a good look at the track.
Race 3 – Amazing start! Shot out the gate and was in 2nd and following the leader. With the top few boys having a fast paste I knew the pressure was behind me again, I held off a few for a couple of laps going back and Forth and stayed strong myself. Last lap I was struggling but knew I had to keep going. I finished the race strong with a P6.
Race 4 – After another good talk with Joe and a confidence boost I had another great start and started out in 2nd place again. I knew every point counted so stayed strong with the pressure behind me, after loosing a few places but having the top 5 in sight the whole race I finished 6th.
With a 6th overall for the weekend, and taking an impressive 3rd overall for the 2026 Championship. I was very pleased with my overall result and stay consistent all season which was one of my goals “not to crash“ which I said at the first boot camp and it’s all thanks to the help from the NORA CRS Development team. Looking forward to doing it all again next year!
