JACK EVANS HEADED TO HAWKSTONE WITH THE BRIDGESTONE MASTERS!

Headed to Hawkestone Park to wildcard in the Bridgestone British Masters.
The 125cc class was stacked with both adults and youth riders, so the racing was fast! And the competition was close!

Unfortunately, I had terrible starts all weekend. I just couldn’t get off the concrete start gate, which meant I had to really fight from the back of the pack in each race.

Saturday:
Qualified P16, which was a good base, with 38 riders in the class
Race 1 – Good fight through to P14
Race 2 – Going round the first corner, I was about 30th in the pack. Managed to settle in and get up to P20. In the last but 1 lap, I overtook 4 riders, so finished P16.

Sunday
Race 3 – Finished in P14
Race 4 – worst start of the weekend- was 3rd from the back so I had to really put the hammer down. Managed to fight back through to P17

Finished 14th overall on the weekend, which was better than my qualifying place.
Shame I couldn’t get the starts, as they definitely hindered my results and I probably could been around the top 10.
However, the racing was really close all weekend, with some great battles going on everywhere on the track.
My fitness was good, my race consistency good and better than it has been recently.

Learnings from the weekend:
Need to practice on concrete starts
Whilst my fitness is good, I need to keep this up, especially when it is hot, as fatigue started to set in on Race 4. However, I’m finding the training from Coach Robb is really good for keeping me focussed.
