Oliver Bardoe Signs Off NORA92 British Cup with 9th in Youth Championship

Last weekend, we headed to Gossington Moto Parc for the final round of the NORA92 British Cup. I was really looking forward to racing there, as it was my first time riding the track.

When we arrived, the track looked really good. We went out for our team track walk with Joe, and I was eager to get out there and start racing.

Saturday was wet — conditions I really enjoy riding in.

Qualifying
Qualifying went well. I took the first few laps steadily to get a feel for the track, then put in a strong lap to qualify 14th.

Race 1
I had an average start but was running inside the top 10 early on. The track felt good, and after some great battles throughout the race, I finished 13th.

Race 2
I got a much better start and knew I was comfortably inside the top 10 during the opening laps. Unfortunately, a couple of mistakes in the final two laps allowed some riders through, and I finished 14th. I was frustrated because I knew I was capable of more.

Race 3 – Sunday
The track conditions were very different from Saturday. It was much drier and faster.

I got out of the gate quickly and was 3rd through the first four corners. By the end of lap one, I was running in 6th position and felt really comfortable on the bike. However, at the start of lap three, I took a different line through a corner and overbalanced, losing several positions. Frustrated with myself, I pushed hard to make up ground, managed to pass a few riders, and really enjoyed the chase. I finished 15th.

Race 4
Another great start. By now, the track was dry and dusty. I was enjoying the track and maintained consistent lap times throughout the race, finishing 14th.

Overall, I finished 13th for the weekend and was really happy to secure 9th overall in the championship series. Considering this was my first year in the Youth class, I’m really pleased with that result, especially as my goal at the start of the season was to finish inside the overall top 10.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed competing in the NORA92 British Cup this season and would like to thank the team for all their support throughout the year.
