RAFE SYMONS headed to Brookthorpe with Severn Valley and Ringwood MXC!

This weekend we headed to the Glorious Brookthorpe for a weekend of riding. Saturday was a practice day with Severn Valley and Sunday was a race day with Ringwood.

It was great to return to Brookthorpe, Rafe had not ridden the track since his auto days and it’s also a track ridden by Rafe’s dad alot back in the day. So it holds lots of happy memories. Mr Tim Truman had been busy in the run up to the weekend getting the track up to spec and it didn’t disappoint.

Rafe got to grips with the Track on Saturday and woke up Sunday ready and raring to go. He headed out for a run in the morning and returned pumped for the day ahead.

The Small Wheels (SW) and Big Wheels (BW) riders were combined which gave 27 riders in total.

Race – 1 – Such a solid ride by Rafe, could not fault his speed, jumping and cornering was amazing! No crashes or mistakes, meant Rafe crossed the line in 3rd for the SW and 9th in both classes.

Race 2 – Same again please Rafe! Cracking start, Rafe got in the groove and was faultless. A smooth, controlled ride by the little superstar meant Rafe crossed the line in 2nd in the SW and 9th in both classes.

Race 3 – Rafe got caught up in the second corner with a fallen rider, which meant he was at the back of the pack. Not a problem, Rafe engaged his famous “Hunter” mode and started to pick off riders and climbed the ranks. However, in the woods section, the conditions had become tricky and Rafe high-sided and fell off. He soon got going again and managed to cross the line in 5th for the SW and 16th in both classes.

Overall Rafe was tidied on points with second place for the SW. So a piece of podium pie was lovely in the summer sunshine!

The progress Rafe’s making is amazing to watch, his jumping and cornering are awesome. Well done Rafe.
