Weekend at Culham MX Park for Lewis Bethell in MX2

Culham MX Park had a number of the Nora CRS Development riders last weekend, including MX2 rider Lewis Bethell who had an unfortunate weekend resulting in concussion and ending the weekend 22nd overall.

Read how Lewis’s weekend went below.

Despite heading into to the weekend at Culham feeling quite confident, it turned out to be a frustrating one for Lewis and not the result he was looking for. The track formed differently to how he had encountered on previous visits to the popular riverside venue and ended up making a number of mistakes across the weekend.

Saturday racing programme ended up just being qualifying and one race following a red flag in a race later on in the day.

Qualifying saw Lewis take 23rd position with a best lap time of 2:23.989.

Although Lewis got a good start in the first race, he ended up going down twice in the opening two laps through silly mistakes leaving him chasing places to eventually finish in 26th.

Sunday saw the remaining three races take place following the Saturday cutting short due to a red flag. Race two Lewis got another reasonable start again which seemed to be a positive for the opening race for Sunday at Culham, however after two laps Lewis lost the use of his clutch which resulted in losing places and crossing the finish line in 19th.

After the clutch being sorted, it was time to line up for the next race. When the gate dropped Lewis was running in 13th but came together with another rider coming out of a corner and went down hard. He managed to get back going and picked up a few spaces to complete the race in 24th.

Entering the final race of the weekend, Lewis didn’t fell his usual strength and struggled to complete the moto in 19th place. Later on that day Lewis got diagnosed with mild concussion which explained how he felt in the final race.

“Overall a frustrating weekend as I showed some decent pace but need to cut out the mistakes at this level. Big thanks to Nora CRS for the support along with all the team sponsors, VIP Motocross and EBC Brakes.”
