Angelica took on Oakhanger and Little Silver!

AMC PROMOTIONS – OAKHANGER

This Sunday we headed down to oakhanger with AMC to have a play in the sand. After watching the nationals there last year I was really keen to give it a go and oh my god what a track that was.
Lots of learnings to take away but most of all the sand was great fun and so many of my family got to come watch too.

Timed qualify – 12th (2:09 lap time)
Getting to grips with the track and getting out there straight away into qualify is something we don’t do very often here so was really good to practice. I felt so good & really comfortable. Was really happy with my result!

Race 1 – 12th
Starts let me down all day especially this one! I started at the back, had a rider fill me in and I tucked the front end and ended up stuck under the bike. Took me a lap to get out and back going so happy with where I got to.

Race 2 – 12th
Once again spent quite a while on the floor!! Ended up getting in my own head and took a couple of laps to settle myself down. Once I did I found my flow and got myself back up to 12th.

Race 3 – 11th
Best race of the day (on the roughest track) but again needed superglue to keep me on my seat! I was trying so hard to keep up with all the fast riders I kept overriding.

Overall I’m gutted that I kept making so many mistakes I let the pressure get to me but I still enjoyed it and took so much away. Every track in the UK will feel like tarmac compared to oakhanger

DURSLEY – LITTLE SILVER

Finally we kicked the season off properly with my first championship race with dursley at little silver. The sun was unreal in the morning I really thought we were in for a great day!

Practice was great I felt so comfortable and happy on the bike and was really happy to be back on a hardpack track!!

Then it started raining ….. And it didn’t stop!

Race 1 – 9th SW / 21st mixed
The track was so wet! The training with Robb really paid off keeping hold of the bike whilst it was sliding around! I came round the first lap in 8th but slid over a burn into a pile of mud and it took me a lap to get it out without any adults trackside! I powered through the pack taking 1 or 2 riders every corner but took me too long to get back to the top of the pack so finished 21st out of everyone (bug and small wheels together)

Race 2 – 7th SW / 16th mixed
The track had really deteriorated by the time we were due to race. But I really really loved it!! Again I slid out on the first lap so started from dead last!! Managed to get back up to 11th (mixed) felt so strong on the bike felt so comfortable but then I got too excited with the throttle and slid out. Managed to get it up but had gone down to 27th but made it back to 16th by the end of the race.

Final result 9th OA in missed girls and boys 2nd OA in girls SW

Although I keep hitting the deck I am really happy with my progress. The fitness off the track is really paying off. And I just really really love riding in the mud
