Tough weekend for Lewis Bethell at Oakhanger!

We headed to Oakhanger last weekend for the first round of the Bridgestone British Championship. I knew it was going to be a challenge as I would be riding with a broken finger but was desperate not miss the round. As expected, the track was tough and rough.

It turned out to be a really tough and frustrating weekend for me. Qualifying set the tone for the weekend when I burried my front end at the end of the first fast lap and got run over by the bike behind leaving me with some nice tyre marks up my back! I eventually picked myself back up and managed 1 lap just to put a time in, qualifying a disappointing 26th.

In race 1 I got a decent start but then went down on the first lap, picked up some places then crashed again to lose them all finishing 28th. I got another reasonable start in race 2 but a rider went down straight in from of me on the first corner leaving me one from last, battled through to 23rd.

Sunday saw a continuation of the Saturday with decent starts and then early crashes in both races finishing 27th and 23rd. With early crashes I just didn’t get in to the flow of my riding all weekend and came away feeling frustrated but having learned from the weekend what I need to work. It was nice to catch up with Andy from Nora on the Sunday, he came to see me crash!! Thanks to the NoraCRS team for the support this season, the Motoverde products certainly did a fantastic job on the bike even if it took three washes to get rid of all the sand!! Time to recover then on to the next round
