Lewis Bethell had weekend in the sun at Culham with the YMSA!

On Sunday we took the opportunity to race with YMSA at Culham in the Adult Open group which always attracts a good quality line up. The sun was shining and, as expected, the track got tougher and tougher through the day.

Race 1 – got a poor start and was 18th at the end of the first lap but found my rhythm after a couple of laps and worked my way up to finish 12th.
Race 2 – got a better jump out of the gate but got squeezed on the first corner so again had some worked to do, working my up to finish 11th.
Race 3 – got a better start and then the race was red flagged after two laps. On the restart, I got a good start and started to show some better pace, eventually finishing 6th which gave me 8th overall on the day.

I was really pleased with my fitness levels with this only being my fourth race meeting of the year, this was key given the heat on the day and felt that I got stronger as the races went on. It was good to get some more race time on the bike, I am learning every week on the four stroke and know the areas that I need to focus on to keep improving.

Thanks to the ongoing support from Nora and Coach Robb as well as all the team sponsors. Next week sees the second round of the Bridgestone at Schoolhouse, another new track and challenge for me but really looking forward to it.
