2nd Overall at West Meon for Angelica

Angelica headed to West Meon on Sunday 1st June for the ninth round of the Hampshire MXC Championship. After three impressive moto’s with a race win on the final race of the day and two seconds, Angelica ended the day with 2nd overall on the podium. Read how the day went from Angelica’s perspective below.

I had an incredible race day this weekend with a meeting at West Meon with Hampshire.

The track was prepped perfectly, after all that heat we’ve had recently I was expecting a dust fest but that wasn’t the case & the regular watering meant we could use the whole track not just the few lines formed in the morning.

Qualifying – 8th (mixed Big & Small wheels)

This was my first time back at the track for 2 years so was excited to get out there. There was a few slick bits on the track for the first session that caught me out but I kept it strong and smooth for the whole session and was really happy with my time.

Race 1 – 2nd

Had a really bad start and got held up a bit getting back through the pack, but knuckled down and caught back up to 1st but by the time the race was over.

Race 2 – 2nd

Had a great start and kept the lead for almost the whole race. I made 2 mistakes on the 2nd to last lap and let 1st place through. I was absolutely gutted but it got me fired up ready for the last race of the day.

Race 3 – 1st

The track was at it roughest and the bumps were massive! I was so close to getting the holeshot 2nd round the corner so gave myself a great chance. I checked out and stayed with the front pack of Big Wheels for the whole race. I lead the race from start to finish and pulled a descent gap on second. I even came 5th out of the Big Wheels.

Overall 2nd

I came away from this weekend on top of the moon, I was so happy with my racing it really feels like all the hard work is starting to pay off.

Now we have a weekend off the bike for some R&R then on to Grittenham for round 10 with Hampshire.
