Battling the Brutal Fatcat: Morgan Opens British Masters with P4

Ronnie Morgan kicked off his British Masters Motocross Championship campaign in determined fashion at the notoriously demanding Fatcat Moto Parc, tackling one of the toughest sand circuits on the calendar. Facing deep, ever-changing conditions throughout the weekend, Morgan showed resilience and consistency across the motos, digging deep to secure an impressive fourth overall and a strong start to the 2026 season.

It was the First Round of the Plews British Masters Championship back at Fat Cats. I’m Racing in the 65cc Class for this 2026 Championship. My dad worked hard all week on the bike but only got the engine back in the bike late Friday so didn’t get chance to do a test ride. Went out for Qualifying but realised the bike was miss firing quite badly but some how managed to get 12th but I knew I was capable of going alot faster.

Race 1 – Dad tried to fix the bike between Qualifying and first race to no avail. I was struggling in the race due to the bike being under powered limped home to 14th place. I was very annoyed but at least I managed to score some points. Due to so many red flags in every class they cut the day sort not even completing a full block, so this gave my Dad a few hours to go through my bike. Managed to lend a carburettor from a fellow competitor the bike ran perfectly from then on.

Sunday Race 1 – I got the Holeshot but was abit tense and drop back a few places. I settled into the race and managed make my way through back to 3rd place. I was over the moon with this and I know I have the speed to run upfront.

Race 2 – Another good start right at the front of the pack with the fast boys. Had some good battles threw the race was really feeling it in my arms as the track got brutally rough towards the end and lots of people crashing. I brought it home in a safe 3rd without having to push too hard. I was happy we managed to get a full day’s racing in, the practice track seemed to hold up a lot better than the race track.

I got 4th overall for the weekend which I was over the moon with as I thought the bike was going to be bad all weekend. Plus I got the Holeshot Prize of Rip and Roll Goggles. Looking forward to Round 2 at Hawkstone Park.
