This weekend we headed to Fatcats for the Plews British Masters. This was a non-championship race for us, so it was all about learning and we definitely did a lot of that. I was in the MXY2 class which was very fast to say the least. We rode a combination of the race and practice track which was very new to me.
I was out first on Saturday morning for qualifying Practice, where the track was very flat and fast. I very quickly came to grips with the track but was struggling to get a clean lap away, due to the amount of riders and the length of the lap. I managed to qualify P21 which I was quite happy with.

For race 1 I chose to go to the inside on the gate, it was a right hand start which I’d never done on the 125 before. I came out towards the high/mid 20s after the first lap chaos. The track conditions were so rough but I managed to battle up to P22 with one near crash.
Due to the track conditions Saturday was cut short and Sunday was kicked off early but with a twist, we switched tracks. This meant we would race the practice track. I had never rode this track in my life so we were excited to see how I would get on.
Race 1 on Sunday was a left hand start due to the track change, so I went as inside as possible and ended up near the dog box. I got off to a decent start and was running mid 20s again. As this was my first time riding this track it took a while to get used to but after 2/3 laps I figured it out and moved from the mid 20s all the way up to P17. I was well happy to make it to the top 20 and my lap times could’ve put me top 15.

Race 2 I didn’t have so much luck. I had a similar if not better start which put me just inside the top 20, but I ended up running in to the back of another rider and crashing 4 corners in. This put me dead last, but I fought threw to P22, so I definitely made the best of a bad situation.
I came away with P18 and a lot learnt about the bike and the track so overall I was very happy with my weekend.
