Against the Odds: Joyner Delivers 10th Overall at NORA92 British Cup Round 2

Round 2 of the NORA92 British Cup, at the almighty Hawkstone Park. A track that I have never been to so was very excited to get there and check it out, after a week of sand practice in Belgium.

The morning was hot already and I went out with Team Coach, Joe Clayton and my team mates for a track walk to get a good feel of the track and pro advice from Joe.

Practice – I felt nervous but found my flow and after headed straight to the gates.

Race 1 – Ok start was riding top 10, riding well until a little topple off which cost me a lot, with it being nationals there’s no space for making mistakes as every rider is close, I got back on and finished the race P17.

Race 2 – Knowing I can run with the top 10 and got my head down and pushed hard, shooting out the gate and 4th to the corner, I followed and kept my laps consistent only loosing 2 positions finishing 6th, very happy with how my day ended.

Day 2, another chat and some advice from Joe first thing and I felt ready to go!

Race 3 – Had a great start but by the time I got to the corner I had a collision with a few other riders, sending me flying off my bike. My bike was facing the other way so as soon as I got up and got my bike going I was dead last… out of my control but I knew I had to get a move on! I pushed hard and passed quickly ticking off riders, I got back up to 17th finishing race there. Unhappy with my result but I rode mega as I knew I had to push for them places.

Race 4 – Wanting to end on a high I gave it my all, shooting out the gate again coming round the corner in 4th, I railed the ruts and stayed consistent with my lap times again. Finishing my last race P8. 10th overall and happy with that with the 2 bad races that I had, some races are out of control and have to take the good with the bad, looking forward to the next round at Sherwood.
