Max Beard Battles the Iconic Hawkstone Park in Round 2 of the NORA92 British Cup

This weekend my aim was to come in top 20 for round 2 of the NORA92 British Cup at Hawkstone Park. I’ve rode there once in the past and it was amazing to get the chance to ride that track again.

Saturday morning, I was lucky to have some of the NORA team and Joe Clayton (our trainer) to do a track walk with.

Qualifying – I enjoyed the track but it took me some time to find a line, meaning I qualified 20th.

Race 1 – concrete start which I don’t like, so I couldn’t get out the gate which gave me a rubbish start. I messed up by trying a different line and lost positions, so finished 23rd.

Race 2 – rubbish start! Manage to make my way through and finished 22nd.

Sunday came ready for the final 2 races. We sat down with Joe for a team chat about the track which gave me a bit more confidence.

Race 3 – rubbish start again, but I made my through finishing 24th

Race 4 – same start, managed to work my way through and get into a flow finishing 19th.

Overall position for the weekend 21st! I’m not happy with my results for the weekend as my fitness and stamina isn’t where it needs to be which I will have to work on before round 3 of the NORA92 British Cup.
