11th overall at Hawkstone Park for Ronnie Morgan | Round 2 NORA92 British Cup

On the weekend we headed to the famous Hawkstone Park for Round 2 of the NORA92 British Cup. I was excited to get to ride this mega sand track and to watch the rest of my NORA CRS Team take on the challenges of this track alongside myself.

Once again our NORA CRS Development setup was outstanding and very professional. I can’t thank all the management team, sponsors and my parents enough for all the effort and support they put in to this and not only on race weekends but behind the scenes week in week out.

For this Championship I’m racing in the 85cc class, Qualifying went good I qualified 7th so that was my gate pick for the weekend.

Race 1 – Not the best of starts inside the top 20 but I worked my way through, had some good battles along the way with some riders I know. I was enjoying the track and racing and managed to finish the race 9th place.

Race 2 – A slightly better start top 15 but through the second half of the race I could feel something not quite right with the bike it was losing power especially up the hills. I had got up to 8th but I was re-passed by a rider and other riders were gaining on me fast but luckily the race had finished with me taking 9th place. We realised the clutch had burnt out so my dad replaced it before the third race.

Race 3 – Was on the start line when I had a mechanical issue related to the clutch going, so I ended up having to ride my 65cc. I was pretty stressed out by this time and had a really really bad start dead last around the first corner. I pulled through to 18th but I had been pushing so hard I almost crashed a few time and ran out of energy eventually finished 20th.

Fourth and final race of the day another terrible start pushed really hard to get through to 10th but there was a really big gap to the next few riders. I kept pushing really hard and by the final lap I was pretty close to 9th and 8th riders crossed the finish line in 10th.

I was really happy so was my parents as it was the best I’d ridden all weekend. I felt really comfortable and was standing up a lot more and my style had come back just wish there was more races as I felt fresh. I came away with 11th overall and was only a couple of points off 9th, plus I gained some much needed Championship points.
