We headed to Whiteway Barton for another round with Southerly MXC. There had been some rain in the week so the track was looking prime. I walked the track as soon as I got there to get a closer look and feel of the track as I hadn’t been here in a long time.

Race morning, the air was cold and I was feeling confident and ready to race.
Race 1- I shot out the gate getting the holeshot and wheeling up the hill for the crowd 😆 I stayed out in front and was riding well, I had 2nd place on my back the whole race and I was pushing hard. I felt fast down the hills and confident on the jumps, last lap flag was out and I was still leading… having that finish line in sight, I passed a few back markers and lead down the hill, last corner to go and I took the outside of a back marker and 2nd place took the inside and took me, roosting me as he went past. I crossed the line in 2nd place only from the last couple of seconds. I was very happy with my riding.
Race 2 – Not the best start and 3rd around the corner, sitting in 3rd most the race pushing on 2nd right behind him the whole race, it was very hard to pass so I crossed the finish line P3.
Race 3 – The gates dropped but not all of them, including mine so we restarted again. Gates dropped but again only a few dropped resulting in another restart. Feeling even more nervous about the start now and wondering if my gate would drop or not, I got ready to go. 3rd time lucky and all the gates dropped and we were off, ok start and again I was 3rd to the corner sitting in 3rd and pushing for 2nd, on him the whole race, trying to take but the track making it so difficult. Finishing 3rd again and 3rd overall for the weekend.
