P2 at Rushwick for Freddie Joyner with Southerly MXC

A great weekend overlap at Rushwick for the next round with Southerly MXC Club Championship. I got to the track Friday evening and as I’ve ever rode here before I went and walked the track straight away to get a good look at it, the track looked rough and a tight track so knew I was going to have to get good starts as it would be hard to pass.

Saturday – went out for practice and felt good. I was raring to go for race 1.

Race 1 – out the gate and second to the corner. Not long after I took first place and I was leading, I felt strong and stayed in the lead the whole race and passed that finish flag feeling very happy with my performance.

Race 2 – Not the best start but was up the top and kept my place in 3rd the whole race, pushing hard crossing the line in P3.

Race 3 – the track was rough now and very dry. Sat at the top after the gates dropped and made a few passes, but also a few mistakes as it was so rough. But managed to get up to 4th and stay there.

Sunday – Race 4 – new day and the track seemed loads better from the track prep from the evening before, holeshot again and lead the pack, making a nice gap for myself. I lead the whole way, on the last lap I could feel pressure form second place behind me so I knew I had to push hard and it payed off, finishing P1.

Race 5 – An ok start and sat in 3rd most the race was adding pressure to the racers in front but back markers made it difficult to pass so crossed the line in 3rd.

Race 6 – Holeshot again and was leading the race, made a little mistake and dabbed my foot on the ground to hard and gave myself a dead leg, let a few places pass me but I kept on going and was determined to finish this weekend on a high. Feeling the pain I got my head down and made a few passes and finished the race 3rd in BW, and 2nd overall, which I was very happy with. A good weekend all round.
