Last weekend we made our way to Little Silver for the Plews British Masters. I’m not overly keen on this track but the times I have ridden it I’ve rode it well. It was due to be a very hot weekend and it definitely was which made for some challenging conditions.
It was my first time racing the Plews British Masters in the SW85 class racing against some kids I’ve never raced before. My first race in this class I had a good start 5th around the first corner, my laps times were very good. I was making some good lines and was chasing down Harrison Chiddey and was pulling him in but ran out of laps to make the pass so I finished the race in 6th place.
In my second race the track was looking rough and had formed some deep ruts because of the heavy watering of the tack throughout the day to keep the dust down. My reaction time was good out the gate was one of the first but I got squeezed in the first corner. On the first lap I was in 6th but hot on the heels of 5th/4th. By the third lap I had made a pass and was battling with Chiddey and Wright. On the fourth lap on one of the jumps Wright made a mistake and took a tumble and gave me 4th place which I held for nearly two laps until the race got red Flagged due to Wrights crash. There was definitely some next level of riding in the SW85 class but I felt comfortable and was enjoying riding in this class.
The last race I had a bad start but was really aggressive making my way threw the pack when there was a big pile up on a really tight corner going up a hill which I got stuck in, I didn’t come off but it aloud a few riders to pass me, dropping me outside the top ten. Worked my way back up to 8th with lots of aggressive passes. On two occasions I passed 2 riders around the outside in the same corner. The next lap I got caught in another pile up was too close to riders in a tight corner. I think I had abit too much adrenaline and was abit too aggressive, I got back up pushing even harder got back to 8th right on the back wheel of 7th and 6th when I tried to make an aggressive move down the inside of 7th he made a mistake because of my pressure which caused me to go into the side of him and I went down and hurt my knee and the bike was twisted up so I just cursed home and sadly I finished 22rd in this race.
