Fraddon Podium Push: Freddie Joyner Secures 2nd Overall in Penultimate Southerly MXC Championship Round

Penultimate round with Southerly MXC at Fraddon moto parc. I got a good feel of the track in practice and felt confident going in to race 1.

Race 1 – holeshot! Straight out of that gate and in to the lead making a nice gap for myself. A few turns in my bike slid out and sent my flying on the start of a jump. My bike was facing the other way and on a jump making it difficult for me to get back on and get it started. I tried my best as everyone else was zooming past me, eventually I got it going again and facing the right direction.. now last and seeing the leaders coming round to lap me . I had to work hard, not being defeated I got my head down and made them passes as quick as I could. Racing my heart out I made it back up to P10. I knew it wasn’t over yet.

Race 2 – Again a good start, and was following the leader. A few corners in again I took the same line as the leader and he fell causing me to crash into him and send me to the floor, as quick as I could I got up and got going again. Pretty much last again! I had to work hard, fighting for my positions I crossed the line in 6th place.

Race 3 – last race of the day, and I gave it my all. Shot out of the gate with another holeshot and led the race. The track was dry and the ruts were deep, railing the ruts I raced my own race and lead the race until the finish, finishing in 1st place. Was good to end on a high after a difficult day on the bike.

Day 2, it was a hot one and I knew from yesterday’s results I had some points to catch. I was first out for practice and got a good feel of the track. I was ready to go again.

Race 4 – good start sitting in 3rd and and stayed on 1st and 2nd the whole race, having them in sight. With it hard to pass I finished in 3rd, but was happy with my ride.

Race 5 – another good start sitting in 3rd and was on 2nd place for the first lap, I saw my chance and got round him to take 2nd place with a bit of a gap to 1st I managed to make up the time after a few laps and was Trying to make the pass everywhere I could .I could here people cheering but leader was riding well and didn’t make it easy so crossed the line in P2 . Lots of people said how good of a battle it was after the race.

Race 6 – last race of the day and I wanted to make It a good one. Holeshot and took the lead and made a nice gap for myself, I rode my own race and got my head down. Having a 10 second lead I didn’t want to slow down my pace and I wanted this win bad! I found my flow feeling comfortable until the end, crossing that line with a race win to finish off my weekend felt good! I came 2nd overall which I was very pleased about after my few crashes on day 1. Goes to show you should never give up!
