Angelica headed south last weekend for two days of racing with Southerly MXC for their 2025 Club Championship. Check out Angelica’s race report below.

This weekend we were at the mighty Landrake for 2 days with Southerly. A track that never disappoints and this weekend was no exception! We had the first rain we’ve had for weeks but that only helped the track conditions and made for some really great racing !! Although going all the way to Cornwall to get rain after one of the hottest springs on record was a bit disappointing.

This weekend Small Wheel 85cc were run separately to Big Wheel 85cc on Saturday and together on Sunday so we had the best of both worlds, racing just against the Small Wheel’s Saturday but battling with the Big Wheels’s Sunday.
Saturday
Race 1 – 5th
Start was a bit ropey, race was brilliant. I had such a fun race and it was great to have some great battles throughout the race. After my bad start I pushed up to 5th but the others were just too far for me to catch.
Race 2 – 6th
Much better start to the race coming round the first corner 8th I was sat in 4th for most of the race but missed a gear coming out of the 3rd to last corner and left the door open for 2 to get past, gutted but still happy with the race as a whole.
Race 3 – 4th
Had a great start to this race, 3rd round the corner. Battled the whole race making sure the boys weren’t pushing me around. I was made up with my result, those Southerly boys are something else so finishing 4th against them was mega!

Sunday
Race 4 – 7th
First race with the Big Wheel’s. It’s easy to forget how much they push you around so took me a while to find my footing. Found my flow halfway through the race and managed to push myself to 7th. I thought I was higher, hard to gauge when you’re mixed so a bit disappointed in the result but really happy with the racing.
Race 5 – DNF
Had a great start, great first 2 laps sitting in 4th. Then I got a front puncture! At Landrake with those jumps there’s no point in trying to get round and risking hurting myself or others so I pulled in but it resulted in a DNF damaging my weekend overall.
Race 6 – 7th
Last race of the weekend so left it all on the track. Felt strong and positive and was in a great position all race. I made a silly mistake on the second to last lap, and let some past again. The level of riders at Southerly mean you cannot drop the ball they will be on you in seconds. Again I am happy with my racing, not with the result.

As a weekend as a whole, really happy with my riding really felt myself and great on the bike. Disappointed with my overall result (10th) but like I said you can’t drop it for a second when you race at southerly and I had a DNF so 10th is more than expected.
Next weekend is Grittenham with Hampshire but Landrake has got me all fired up ready for the NORA92 British Cup in 3 weeks!
