Reuben also headed to Culham MX Park with Cotswold Youth & AMX Club for rounds 4 and 5 of their Club Championship on the weekend. With the sun shining and good track conditions it was 6 moto’s to contend with for Reuben.

Here is how the weekend went from Reuben’s perspective:
This Weekend we headed to Culham, a track I have not ridden before. I was excited and the weather looked good I was all set for a great weekend.
Race 1 – I felt I got a good start but there were some fast riders out there and on the second lap I was run into and knocked off. Quickly getting back on but having to chase the group to finish 12th.
Race 2 – I knew this time out, I wanted to push on but with a poor start and finding myself again right at the back, struggling to pass riders and being held up throughout the race but managed to get 11th at the end of the race.
Race 3 – This race didn’t start well. I missed a gear and was last into the corner. As I started to get comfortable and work my way into the group my bike seemed to be acting up something wasn’t right but I just kept pushing. I came down on to the back straight and that’s when It happened the fuel cap popped off fuel spraying all over me I pulled off track and put the cap back on and I got going again. It was me that put the cap on but think we will just blame the Mechanic (Dad). I managed to finish the race in 13th.

Race 4 – I got a really good start and was in a great position, track was great and I felt confident but midway into lap 2 the bike started to make a horrible noise I was worried but seemed to be struggling unless I had throttle open fully I kept on with the race but with my head thinking about the bike issue I was struggling and finished 13th.
Race 5 – My dad had checked the bike, had the Carb off/cleaned jets and bike was running fine. When we were in the holding pen and I was warming my bike up about to get to the line when it happened. The bike died! Dad quickly figured after trying to kick it and realised the plug must of gone he set off on a sprint (fastest I have seen him move) to get the new plug from the van quickly changing the plug on the line and we were off. After a poor start I was so far back I think the bike issues got in my head but by lap 2 I had forgotten about this and set off on a charge to get back up to the pack. I was passing bikes and I felt the best I had felt all weekend and finished 13th.
Race 6 – last race of the weekend I wanted to make it count after having such a great finish to my last race. I set off getting a great start and somehow found myself right up in the middle of the group in the mixed BW/SW, how was I here there were some real fast riders behind me. Here I was pushing and pushing I knew I could hold position not wanting to let anyone past they kept at me but I kept going this was by far the best race so far I was so confident. I came down the back straight at the bottom of the track when I left a gap and a BW85cc went flying past I clipped his back wheel which sent me into the dirt face first. Gutted, but quickly getting back on and only loosing a few places I set off trying to gain ground putting in some of the best lap times I had all weekend. I can say I was happy overall and learnt a lot. Finished 13th. 12th overall for the weekend on to the next round!
