Digging Deep at Hawkstone: Oliver Bardoe Secures Youth Class Top 20

After a good training session with Joe at Apex during the week, I felt ready to go racing at Hawkstone Park.

Qualifying went well. I took it steady to get a feel for the track and qualified 22nd.

Race 1, I got a decent start and managed to work my way through the pack, making up a few positions.

Race 2, My start was better, I felt more comfortable on the bike, and the track was riding really well. I finished in 18th place.

Race 3, I was looking forward to this one as the track was wet, conditions I really enjoy. I got a good start and was inside the top 10 around the first corner. I kept consistent lap times throughout the race and finished 19th.

Race 4, Very similar to race 3. I rode consistently, felt really comfortable on the bike, and enjoyed the race.

Overall, the track was great all weekend and I really enjoyed my racing. There are plenty of positives to take away, and I’m looking forward to the next round at Sherwood, especially as I haven’t ridden there for a while.

The focus now is on improving my starts and continuing to work hard to move further through the pack.
