Lessons learned competing at Hawkstone International for Jack Evans

A week ago today, team rider Jack Evans lined up for the first time for the International Motocross Event, Hawkstone International in the EMX125 class with 39 other riders. After a strong two motos and a DNF in moto one due to bike problems. Jack ended up with 22nd overall at the end of the day.

Here is how the day went from Jack’s perspective.

“It was the first time competing in the Hawkstone International. Great to be back on the bike racing for the first time this year at the iconic Hawkstone Park. Still in the middle of our long winter and with various bike troubles, it was a real mixture of highs and lows.”

“Qualifying in ended 18th. Race 1 I had a good start, but unfortunately I had bike problems in the first lap, meaning I had retire from the race. Race 2 I went out on the spare bike, but didn’t ride as well as I know I can. Had a crash and was already too far back to make a come-back and finished 21st.”

“Race 3, I had a good start again and was running in 12th with my lap times improving. Snapped my gear shifter off on the first lap, so I was unable to shift and was stuck in 3rd gear for the whole race. I then had a crash half way through the race and lost 3 positions and ended up finishing 15th. Whilst my fitness and strength are good for the start of the season, lessons have been learned and I’m looking forward to going again soon. Thanks to everyone for coming by and cheering me on.”
