Mud, Ruts & Progress: P10 for Jesse James at Monster Mountain

Jesse headed to the first round of CYMXC this weekend at Monster Mountain. After a day of practicing in the sunshine on the all weather track he was ready for a full day of racing on the Sunday with his NORA CRS Team Mates. Eager to get going the race schedule was delayed Sunday due to low lying fog and after some rain Saturday night the track had become very wet again so we were heading for some tricky conditions that day.

Practice and Qualifying – Jesse headed to the line ready to get 2026 off to a great start. The conditions of the track were very wet and the mud was like liquid cement undeterred he flew off the line determined to make his presence known putting in a lap time that qualified him in 3rd overall. He came back full of confidence and ready to race.

Race 1: P4 – The rain had come down and the track was really muddy making race conditions very tricky. The race started but he couldn’t get traction on the line so he had some catching up to do, however this is the type of track passing is difficult, for Jesse he carved though riders like a hot knife through butter. He made passes where it wasn’t even possible, worked his way through the bikes even when his goggles broke he kept pushing towards the front, securing his fourth overall place.

Because the track conditions had become a lot worse the organisers announced there would only be two races for the day as the track was becoming increasingly unrideable.

Race 2 – Had a mediocre start the track was really deep now, Jesse his bike and his goggles where covered in thick mud but he kept pushing towards the front getting himself up to 5th then the bike went bang. There was just to much sludge and because of its clay nature it got inside the engine and that was the end of the race for Jesse. He was disappointed but also really happy with how his day had gone he road amazingly in the really hard conditions and proved he has a really bright year ahead of him.

He is coming out swinging in 2026!
