Olly Hadlow – 2023 Round Up!

I started 2023 race season on my 65 to finish my final year on it but a few months in I just wasn’t comfortable riding it anymore so me and my mum made the decision to move me up the 85, I understood by doing this I was starting from the bottom again and was going to take time to get used to a bigger and heavier bike, I couldn’t quite touch the floor and was worried I wasn’t going to be able to pick the bike up on race days but honestly it was the best decision we made for me, first race wasn’t the best but having no practice on the bike I went straight in at the deep end, as time went on my confidence grew massively I pushed myself a lot more then I have ever done before.

I went into mx master kids very wary as I knew I was going to be up against some really good riders that had been on their bikes a lot longer then myself, but what a weekend I had I managed to qualify 5th in B group which I was happy with then went on to get a hole shot, fastest lap times and finished 2nd overall in my group I also managed to get rider of the group winning and free ride and training day, to say I was happy was an understatement after this weekend it made me realise I am capable of more than I thought I was so week in week out I just pushed and pushed myself.

I managed to finish every race I did top 10 even top 5, I also raced some AMCA events which pushed me on a lot more as riding with the big wheels can be very daunting but felt like this was going to help me get better and faster.

I don’t feel I had any low points as I went into this race season as a learning curve as moving up I didn’t have any expectations to finish any championships but managed to finish one club championship which was corsham ssc and I finished 13th overall so I think to myself if I can achieve this in my first year with no training very rarely practicing more racing I can definitely achieve much more in 2024.

Now race season is over I am planning on concentrating on my fitness and making myself race ready for 2024 I would say I am active child anyway and love to be out doing something active whether this being bike riding, swimming or just going for walks but with coach Robb now behind me giving me the right exercises to do to build my fitness in the areas I need too and the correct nutrition I feel this will make my riding much better and I will feel even more fitter.

For 2024 I have entered the corsham ssc club championship again and also will hopefully be doing more of the AMCA events, to be honest I am open to ride anywhere as I feel riding different tracks this being hard pack or sand with different riders each week will push me on and take me out my comfort zone, I would like to push myself to get on the podium more in 2024 and having NORA CRS development team behind me is going to help me a lot as I know I will have the right advice when needed and not just from the trainers, coach Robb and the rest of nora but also from the other riders, I feel like it will become one big family.

Thoroughly looking forward to 2024 and being part of a fantastic team.
