It was a podium finish last Sunday at Grittenham with Hampshire Motocross Club for another round of their 2025 Club Championship. Read how the day went for Angelica below.
This weekend I headed over to Grittenham for another round of the Hampshire Championship. After bike issues in the last 2 weekends I was keeping everything crossed for a smooth running weekend and the bike did not miss a beat. The track was super wet in the morning but dried brilliantly for the remainder of the races and there was even some pretty epic racing to watch in the other groups during the day too.

Qualifying – 9th (Big and Small wheel combined)
Qualify was good, my best all year, I am starting to get the hang of the HMX qualifiers now and put myself in a really good position for the races, which at Grittenham is really really important!
Race 1 – 3rd
I had a great start but made some mistakes on the first couple of laps which meant I got pushed further down the pack and I really struggled to make the passes to get back up. I got myself into 3rd but couldn’t make the final pass to get into 2nd. I pushed right up to the line but every time I got into second he got me back and in the end he ended ahead of me.

Race 2 – 2nd
Start wasn’t so great on this one but I made sure I pushed as much as I could in the first lap to get a good position. I got into 3rd again and after the last race I knew I had to act fast to get into 2nd so I pushed round the outside of a couple of corners and made sure I got myself into 2nd and even started to close in on 1st but didn’t have enough time.
Race 3 – 3rd
Worst start of the day! My uncle had an accident on the start straight of his race and it got in my head a bit, it meant I started this race 4th from back and left a lot of work for me to do. I used everything I had to get past all the other SW and BW riders to reach 2nd but by the time I got there I had nothing in the tank to challenge for another place so I settled and maintained my position.

Overall 3rd
Everything went smoothly all day but my head was a bit all over the place and simply I wasn’t good enough on the day to make it to a higher step on the day. I am thinking long term though and thinking of the Championship and I have maintained my 2nd place. I need to work on my mental blocks to push further and I will be doing that with a 2 week break over the next 2 weeks. I have no racing this weekend so will next be back for 2 days at Foxhill with Hampshire followed by the Monday of the Nora Cup at Landrake. Big weekend but I’ll be ready!
